SPRING/SUMMER 2021: PUBLIC ART NOW!

City Studio’s first seasonal collaboration with 500 Capp Street occurred at the end of Covid with Artivate: Public Art Now!  500 Capp Street was one of the venues where high school students worked in “pods” to explore the work of David Ireland and artist-in-residence David Wilson.  With Wilson, students hiked to various parts of the mission following his map and directions for activations.  At the house, students worked on printmaking and making DI’s famous “dumbballs” out of quickcrete.  Students also visited SFAI, where they displayed the work they created during the program. In additional, students had a curatorial walkthrough at the Walter McBean Gallery and viewed Rigo ’23’s Leonard Peltier sculpture.
