Things continue to progress at a steady pace at 500 Capp Street. The reinstallation of the windows now completed, other conservation needs will begin to be addressed. Next to get the attention of our team is the front door.
The front door is symbolic across cultures and history, and a key feature in any home. With its original details, the iconic solid redwood door at 500 Capp Street is in need of some minor restoration after nearly 120 years. Next week, the front door will receive several injections to help with some of the cracks that naturally come with aging and repetitive expansion/contraction due to weather. It will also improve the door’s overall density and weatherproofing. We look forward to not only sharing with you the final product, but to also welcome you through this newly restored door when we reopen in early 2016.
