SUMMER 2024: YOUR FOOD, MY WORK, OUR LAND
This summer we participated in a project with renowned muralist Oscar Lopez and his investigation of food justice in the project Your Food, My Work, Our Land. We made prints inspired by his incredible project and showcased them at both the Haight Street Art Center and at 500 Capp Street.
We also explored the work of the conceptual artist David Ireland at 500 Capp Street and engaged with artist-in-residence Annie Albagli to conceive of imaginary narratives that tapped into biology, geography and personal histories. As outputs to their research, interns created a sculptural jar filled with these objects and also published a zine entitled “Stories from the Jar,” with their writings on these varied topics. They also participated in a culminating dinner salon for friends and family featuring the David Ireland Project Recipes of Resilience.
