Join us Saturday, July 26, 2025 for the opening of Jes Young’s site-specific installation Return 回, created specially for the David Ireland House’s lightwell – an addition to the house’s second floor made by David Ireland that transformed an outdoor staircase into an indoor sun room.
Using found objects, ceramics, and a patchwork quilt dyed with rhubarb, pomegranate, madder root, and loquat leaves, Young creates an altar-like space for communion with nature and ancestors. In this space we welcome you to ponder on transformation and decay. How do I have to change in order to make something happen beyond what we see? What has to die in order to fertilize the seeds that we are going to plant for our future?
